Problems in power supply won’t be solved unless new power plants are built, Manila Electric Company Manny V. Pangilinan said Thursday (April 11).
Pangilinan touted the construction of new power plants as the “only solution” to energy supply problems after Meralco warned of rotational brownouts in its service areas due to thin reserves.
“We just have to build more plants, di ba? That’s the only solution we can think of,” he said.
The National Grid Corporation placed the Luzon grid twice on red alert, the highest alarm level, on Thursday due to generation deficiency.
The outage of several power plants has been pointed as the reason for the thinning reserves.
