Senator Nancy Binay called the Philippine National Police (PNP) “OA” or overacting for closing down Lotto outlets in response to President Rodrigo Duterte’s order to stop the gaming operations of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
In a statement Sunday (July 28), Binay said there was no need for policemen to padlock Lotto outlets since the PCSO’s servers were already shut down following Duterte’s order.
“Sa totoo lang, offline na lahat ng lotto outlets at na-shutdown na ang main servers noong Biyernes (July 26) pa lang. Kaya, there’s no point for police operatives to padlock non-operational betting stations that are already out of business. Medyo overkill at OA (overacting) na ‘yun,” she said.
Binay slammed the PNP for having a “misplaced sense of priority” for prioritizing the closure of Lotto outlets over other forms of law enforcement operations.
Duterte directed the PNP and military to shut down outlets of PCSO-sanctioned games such as Lotto, Keno, Small Town Lottery and Peryahan ng Bayan due to “massive corruption.”
Instead of wasting their time in closing down lotto outlets, bakit ‘di nila pagdiskitahan habulin at hulihin ang mga nasa wanted list nila, o ‘yung mga insidente ng patayan sa Negros?” Binay said.
