Sinong paranoid? Xi backed me up due to ouster calls from yellows, Left, Magdalo – Duterte
Chinese President Xi Jinping vowed to block attempts to oust President Rodrigo Duterte at the height of resignation calls from his critics.
In an interview in Malacañang Wednesday (May 16), Duterte mentioned the “yellows,” the derogatory term for members and allies of the Liberal Party, the Magdalo party-list and the leftist movement as the groups that supposedly wanted him out of office.
“That was the time when there was this parade ‘yung ‘oust, oust, Duterte.’ We would not want to see someone duly elected na… otherwise, these threats about ‘yung mga yellow pati Magdalo, pati ‘yung… ‘yung mga left nag-join, they were demonstrating almost everyday,” he said.
Asked if it was Xi who personally assured him of China’s support for his administration, Duterte said the message was relayed by Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua.
“I think it was the Ambassador who told me. It would not be good to oust elected leaders, parang in a free and honest election,” he said.
In October last year, Duterte accused the “reds and yellows” of joining forces to oust him.
During his visit to Casiguran, Aurora Tuesday (May 15), Duterte said Xi assured him that China will not allow his ouster and let the Philippines “go to the dogs.”
