Nasa huli ang pagsisisi! Duterte: I would’ve stayed in Davao instead of running for president
President Rodrigo Duterte appears to have realized — belatedly– that the responsibilities that come with staying in Malacañang may be too big for a long-time mayor like him.
In a speech in Malacañang Thursday (October 4), Duterte said he would not have run for president given the chance.
“You know sa totoo lang and please do not be offended, kung pabalikin ako gusto ko na lang talaga mag — maybe for the last time — kasi I did not want to leave Davao,” he told members of the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association.
“The position does not interest me at all,” Duterte added.
The President said he was already tired after spending close to 40 years in government service.
“Ayaw ko na talaga kasi pagod na rin ako. And I know that time was up for me. Siguro pagdating mo ng 70 years old wala na ‘yan,” he said.
Duterte has repeatedly said he is ready to step down but only needs a good reason to do so.
