Vice President Leni Robredo chooses to look at Otso Diretso’s prospects in the senatorial race through rose-colored glasses, despite their dismal performance in surveys.
In an interview in Bacolod City Monday (April 29), Robredo said the volunteers’ readiness to help in the final stretch of the campaign season boost her hopes that members of the Otso Diretso slate will be elected senators.
Robredo said she remains “hopeful until the very last day” that members of Otso Diretso will win.
Voter preference surveys conducted by Pulse Asia and Social Weather Stations show only Senator Bam Aquino and former senator Mar Roxas have a statistical chance of winning the senatorial race out of all Otso Diretso members.
The other candidates which make up the slate are: former Bangsamoro civic leader Samira Gutoc, former Quezon Rep. Erin Tañada, former Solicitor General Florin Hilbay, abogados Chel Diokno and Romulo Macalintal, and Magdalo party-list Rep. Gary Alejano.
