Nasabon ni kumander! Duterte blasts PNP amid ‘ninja cops’ scandal: Malaki na sweldo, nasa droga pa rin- report
High ranking officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) received a dressing down from President Rodrigo Duterte at their command conference Tuesday (October 15) amid the so called “ninja cops” controversy, according to a report by the Philippine Star.
Quoting an insider, the Philippine Star reported Thursday (October 17) that Duterte “expressed his utmost disappointment at the PNP.”
Binigay na raw niya lahat, nag-involvement pa rin sa drugs,” the Philippine Star quoted the source as saying, referring to the salary hike he approved for policemen.
Former Philippine National Police chief Oscar Albayalde announced Monday (October 14) that he was going on non-duty status until his mandatory retirement on November 8.
Senator Bong Go said Duterte wanted Albayalde to take a terminal leave until he retires.
Albayalde has been accused of intervening to stop the dismissal of 13 “ninja cops” from Pampanga who were ordered dismissed after carrying out an anti-drug operation in 2013 that was supposedly riddled with irregularities.
The policemen allegedly “recycled” or resold a large chunk of the illegal drugs they seized at the operation.
Albayalde has denied any wrongdoing, claiming the allegations against him were related to “politics” over the selection of the next PNP chief.
