Retired police Sr. Supt. Wally Sombero is set to be arraigned this June 29 before the Sandiganbayan 6th Division over charges concerning his involvement of handing a P50 million bribe to immigration officials.
The Sandiganbayan set the date after cancelling his scheduled arraignment last June 8 due to his pending motion to quash the charges.
On the other hand, his co-accused, former immigration deputy commissioners Al Argosino and Michael Robles, have already been arraigned before the court.
The three accused have been charged with plunder, graft, direct bribery and violation of Presidential Decree No. 46 which punishes public officials for receiving gifts from private individuals
The case stemmed from the P50 million Sombero allegedly handed to Argosino and Robles in November 2016.
The money alleged came from Chinese casino mogul Jack Lam in exchange for the release 1,316 illegal Chinese workers arrested in Fontana Leisure Parks and Casino in Clark, Pampanga.
