Former Bayan Muna Party-list representative Neri Colmenares on Sunday expressed condemnation of the killing of nine farmers at Hacienda Nene in Barangay Bulanon, Sagay City.
On Saturday, bullets were fired into the farmers’ makeshift shelter by some 40 armed men, killing the National Federation of Sugar Workers members.
“They were merely cultivating the land to ward off the inevitable hunger brought by the Tiempo Muerto,” Colmenares, a Negrense, said on Twitter.
“We in Makabayan and Bayan Muna demand an immediate impartial probe on this massacre and we will not stop until justice has been served,” he added.
The victims were identified as Eglicerio Villegas of Barangay Bulanon; Angelipe Arsenal of Barangay Bulanon; a certain Pater of Barangay Plaridel; Dodong Laurencio of Barangay Plaridel; Morena Mendoza of Barangay Bulanon; Bingbing Bantigue of Barangay Plaridel; 17-year-old Jomarie Ughayon Jr. of Barangay Rafaela Barrera; 17-year-old Marchtel Sumicad of Barangay Bulanon; and Necnec Dumaguit.
