New Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Archie Gamboa took his oath before President Rodrigo Duterte in Batangas Monday.
Duterte also donned the four-star rank to Galvez prior to the ceremonial distribution of calamity assistance to the families affected by the eruption of Taal Volcano.
On Friday, the President announced the appointment of Gamboa, replacing Oscar Albayalde who stepped down from his post on October 29.
“We have the PNP Chief, I’m going to appoint you as the regular PNP but you and Secretary [Eduardo] Año and I will have a long, long talk first,” Duterte told Gamba during the thanksgiving gathering with The Fraternal Order of Eagles.
“Ipinakita mo sa akin ‘yung sincerity mo and I want you to leave something that you will be remembered by the country,” he added.
