Next PNP chief expected to perform with honesty, competence – Palace

The next head of the Philippine National Police (PNP) should be “honest” and “competent,” Malacañang said.
General Oscar Albayalde is set to step down from his post on November 8, upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 56.
“Palaging yan naman ang kanyang (President Rodrigo Duterte) qualifications,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo told reporters Tuesday.
“Basta pagiging honest, ibig sabihin, wala kang kaso relative to any irregularity. Pag competent ka, ibig sabihin, magaling ka sa trabaho mo,” added Panelo.
Asked if the PNP has deep bench of honest men who deserve the top police post, the chief presidential legal counsel said: “Every organization naman merong ganung klase. Hindi mawawala yun.”
