Allies of Vice President Leni Robredo may be skeptical over President Rodrigo Duterte’s motive to make her the drug czar, but former Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda still chooses to see the silver lining in the appointment.

Lacierda tweeted Thursday (November 7) that Robredo’s designation as co-chairperson of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD) reaffirms her victory as the Vice President.

“The SC may have delayed to reaffirm the legitimacy of Leni Robredo as VIce-Resident but the mere offer by the President to the VP to be drug czar made the reaffirmation by the Supreme Court irrelevant for now. More importantly, the president left Bongbong Marcos in the dust,” he said, referring to Robredo’s rival, former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Marcos has filed a poll protest questioning Robredo’s victory in the 2016 elections.

The case is still pending before the Supreme Court, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal.
