Nicanor Faeldon to replace Bato dela Rosa as BuCor chief

President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Deputy Administrator Nicanor Faeldon as chief of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).
Faeldon will replace BuCor chief Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, who filed his certificate of candidacy at the Commission on Elections main office in Manila today.
Dela Rosa, the former Philippine National Police chief, is running for senator in the 2019 midterm elections.
“The Department of Justice has interposed no objections to the proposed appointment of Mr. Faeldon, and is now seeking the favorable endorsement of the Civil Service Commission as part of the requirements under the Bureau of Corrections Act of 2013,” Justice Secretary Menardo Gueverra said.
Prior to his appointment to the OCD, Faeldon served as Bureau of Customs commissioner until he resigned in August 2017 following the controversial P6.4 billion shabu shipment.
