No hugs, just elbow bumps: Berna Puyat reunites with son in Palawan
A sweet and safe reunion.
Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat finally reunited with his son Vito while she was visiting Palawan.
Vito, who works as an environmental protection advocate in El Nido, has been stranded in the province since the lockdown was enforced last March.
In a video posted on Instagram, Puyat wanted to hug her son upon seeing him at a tourism facility in El Nido. The mother and son however opted to do an elbow bump to greet each other instead in line with the physical distancing rule during the quarantine period.
“FINALLY saw my son after 4 months,” she captioned the video.
Puyat, in a short clip posted on Instagram, described her son as the love of her life as she longed for a warm hug.
“‘Yung pinakamamahal ko sa buhay. Hindi ko mayakap kasi natatakot… Uy negative ako twice na,” she said.
Other officials present tried to persuade Vito to embrace his mom but the tourism secretary suggested an elbow greeting instead. A staff member taking a video of the mother-and-son reunion is heard saying “Naiiyak si Ma’am.”
Another video clip showed Puyat bidding farewell to his son. “Miss you,” she told Vito, making another elbow bump to bid goodbye.
