No more fitbit diplomacy in DFA, Teddyboy Locsin says
Incoming Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. is seeking to end “fitbit diplomacy” that uses the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to make other Filipino officials look busy abroad.
Locsin tweeted his dismay with some Philippine delegation members ordering his staff to do extra work even though the complete staff work has been completed.
The former lawmaker serves as the country’s permanent representative to the United Nations. He and his team recently worked with the Philippine delegation that attended the UN General Assembly in New York City.
“As SFA I will end fitbit diplomacy,” Locsin tweeted.
“UN staff do all the work before PH delegations arrive; planchado; yet my people are running around like they have to complete 10,000 steps even if all work is done just so PH delegates look like they assigned them something new to do. No more,” he said.
