No more term extension? Cayetano to focus on making baby after 15 months

House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano seemed to have bigger plans for his family after his term as Speaker expires in September 2020.
In an ambush interview during his 49th birthday on Monday, Cayetano hinted that he has no more plans to further extend his term as Speaker as he will focus his time on making an offspring with his wife, Taguig City Rep. Lani Cayetano later next year.
“That’s why kung will ni Lord ‘yung 15 months ay baka nga ‘yun ‘yung opportunity na ma-solo ko siya at ma-solo niya ako,” said Cayetano.
Cayetano is expected to serve as Speaker for 15 months following the “15-21 term-sharing deal” brokered President Rodrigo Duterte between the former chief Foreign Affairs secretary and Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco last July.
Speculations over the possibility of further extending Cayetano’s term until 2022 emerged among some of his allies in the Lower House especially after the Taguig-Pateros solon registered a high trust and approval ratings during the latest survey figures released by Social Weather Station (SWS) and Pulse Asia.
But Cayetano was quick in shutting down any term-extension proposals, saying that only Duterte being the head of the PDP-led super majority has the final say on whether or not the term-sharing deal for the House leadership will proceed as plan.
Meanwhile, Cayetano said his only wish for his birthday this year definitely is to finally have a baby with his wife.
“Hoping for twins, soon. Lahat naman siguro ng mag-asawa ayun ‘yung hope na magkapamilya. At saka maalagaan ‘yung pamilya,” said Cayetano.
