No quarantine violation: Mocha defends OFW gathering in Batangas
Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) deputy administrator Mocha Uson has denied violating the quarantine regulations when she met a group of overseas Filipino workers in Batangas.
Uson, in a Facebook post, said she visited the place to remind the OFWs about the quarantine restrictions enforced by the national government as well try to boots their morale.
She asked for understanding after some critics demanded her resignation over the alleged “mass gathering” at the Batangas resort last April 25.
At present, the government bans large gatherings as part of the extended community quarantine implemented in Luzon to contain the coronavirus outbreak.
Taos-puso po akong nagpapasalamat sa inyong pag-unawa,” she said.
In her recent visit to Batangas, Uson said she distributed hygiene kits to the repatriated workers currently undergoing a two-week quarantine since they returned to the country.
She also gave a briefing to the OFWs about the ECQ rules, including home quarantine and social distancing.
She reminded the OFWs not leave their quarantine facilities after learning about reports some were loitering along the Matabungkay beach.
Uson also tried to highlight the plight the repatriated OFWs, saying they endure stress and discrimination from others who fear they are potential carriers of the coronavirus.
