Nograles: All Cabinet execs supportive of VFA termination

Malacañang denied claims by Senator Panfilo Lacson that President Rodrigo Duterte’s decision to terminate the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) with the United States (U.S.) does not have the full support of the Cabinet.
On Friday, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said the entire Cabinet backed the abrogation of the two-decade-old military accord between the Philippines and the U.S.
“Let me assure everybody that when the President makes a decision, the entire Cabinet will support him. Pag sinabi ng Pangulo, nag desisyon na siya ng ganyan na i-terminate ang VFA, lahat po kami, miyembro ng gabinete ay susportahan si Pangulong Duterte,” added Nograles.
“When the President says something, gives a directive, or makes a decision, the entire Cabinet is behind him,” he reiterated.
In January, Duterte ordered the termination after the U.S. government canceled the visa of his ally, Senator Ronald dela Rosa. He likewise criticized American senators for supposedly interfering in the country’s domestic affairs.
