Not important! Robredo laughs off impeachment threat
Vice President Leni Robredo just laughed off speculations by Presidential Anti-Corruption Commissioner Manuelito Luna that she may be impeached for supporting the United Nations Human Rights council to look into the killings amid the country’s war against drugs.
Robredo let out a laugh when she was asked in an interview in Panglao, Bohol on Tuesday, July 16, for her comment on Luna floating her possible impeachment from office.
Robredo then refused to give a comment but said the impeachment call was “not important.”
“Hindi na. Hindi ko na iyon ko-comment-an, kasi wala namang—hindi naman siya mahalaga,” she said.
Earlier her spokesperson, Atty. Barry Gutierrez, said Robredo is not afraid to face any impeachment attempt as she knows she did not do anything wrong when she voiced her support for the UN investigation.
For Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, supporting an impeachment complaint against Robredo is not a priority for the administration.
“You know, we have better things to do. There are so many problems in this country. I will leave it to those who would want to initiate whatever they want to initiate against whomsoever,” said Panelo.
The PACC official later clarified in a television interview that it was not his intention to initiate an impeachment complaint against Robredo.
Luna said he was just giving the Vice President a “warning” so she can “temper her statements” and not “embarrass our government internationally.”
