Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. sought a meeting with Sen. Panfilo Lacson to apologize for some remarks he made last week, and coursed his request through Baguio City Mayor and fellow Philippine Military Academy graduate Benjamin Magalong.

Lacson, a member of PMA Class 1971, said Thursday that Galvez, a member of PMA Class 1985, also promised to disclose the details of the government’s vaccine procurement efforts.

“Last Tuesday, I received a message from Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, relaying Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr.’s request for a meeting to apologize personally for the things he mentioned about me in his presentation during the T3 Zoom meeting last week – which I mentioned in my manifestation during the Senate Committee of the Whole hearing last Jan. 15,” Lacson said in a statement.

“He also promised to brief me and disclose all the details of their vaccine procurement, including the prices of the different brands,” he added.

Magalong is a member of PMA Class 1982.

Lacson said Galvez’s message, along with President Rodrigo Duterte’s instruction to Galvez to brief Senate President Vicente Sotto III on the matter, prompted him to suggest that he and Sotto go together, along with Sen. Ronald de la Rosa.

Dela Rosa is a member of PMA Class 1986. He and Senate President Vicente Sotto III were also present at Wednesday evening’s meeting.

Earlier, Lacson disclosed that he, dela Rosa and Galvez took part in a Viber group chat where they discussed concerns over the vaccination program mess.

On Thursday, Lacson said Wednesday evening’s meeting went well, with Galvez clarifying many issues and concerns raised by the senators.

“I accepted his apology. He promised to be more careful in issuing statements.

“We were shown the documents. And we have no doubt about Sec. Galvez’s integrity and his sincerity to accomplish his task,” he said.
