NPC to keep ‘open mind’ on presidential bet
Will they or won’t they?
That remains the question for the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) as it continues to ponder whether or not it will back Senator Grace Poe’s presidential bid next year.
“NPC members have personal preferrences, but we want our members to keep an open mind and think of the party,” Quezon Rep. Mark Enverga told ANC’s Headstart Thursdyay, September 17 or just hours removed from Poe’s declaration at the UP Bahay ng Alumni.
The NPC will announce it preferred presidential bet before the filing of certificates of candidacy, party spokesman Enverga said. The filing of election requirements begin in mid-October.
If anything, the politiko admitted that six members from the Danding Cojuangco-led faction was present during Poe’s declaration. “I think we were well-represented,” he said.
Enverga described Poe as a listener, “which is highly appreciated by NPC”.
“(Her declaration) was admirable. She stuck to the current issues that Filipinos are facing,” added the NPC official.
The NPC is the country’s second largest political party. (Randy K. Ortega)
