Off to Padre Faura: Sandiganbayan transmits Imelda Marcos’ graft cases to SC
The Sandiganbayan 5th Division has begun transmitting to the Supreme Court (SC) the voluminous records of the graft cases Ilocos Norte Representative Imelda Marcos got convicted of.
The transmittal was made at the request of Marcos who informed the Sandiganbayan she will seek the reversal of her conviction before the SC.
The anti-graft court has informed the legislator that her request has been “given due course.”
Last Nov. 9, the court promulgated a decision which found her guilty of seven counts of graft.
Under the charges, Marcos had created foundations in Switzerland which she used to amass ill-gotten wealth.
With this, the court sentenced her to suffer imprisonment ranging from to 6 to 11 years for each count of graft.
