Ombudsman suspends Aurora gov Noveras over illegal truck use

Aurora Governor Gerardo Noveras has been suspended for nine months without pay by the Office of the Ombudsman for having used his dump trucks in a construction project.
The Ombudsman imposed the suspension as it found Noveras guilty of conduct prejudicial to the best interest of public service.
“Even if respondent did not intervene in the bidding process and did not coerce or intimidate anyone, the fact that he allowed the use of his dump trucks in a government project within his jurisdiction tarnishes the image and integrity of his public office,” read the Ombudsman resolution.
Records show Remnant Builders got awarded for a P232,441.50 contract in 2014 for a construction project in Barangay Nipoo, Dinalungan, Aurora.
However, Remnant was found to have used Noveras’ dump trucks despite its non-inclusion in the list of equipment.
Meanwhile, the Ombudsman asked the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) to implement the order against Noveras.
