President Rodrigo Duterte enjoined all Filipinos to work towards achieving a “climate-resilient” and “climate-smart” Philippines.

In his message during the Earth Day 2021 webcast organized by the Climate Change Commission Thursday, Duterte said this annual event reminds people of their responsibility as stewards of the environment.

“I join the entire nation and the global community in celebrating Earth Day 2021. This occasion reminds us of our inherent responsibility to take care of our planet,” according to the Chief Executive.

“This Earth Day, let us work with renewed vigor to engage our people, our local communities, our industries, and all other stakeholders and our efforts to achieve a climate-resilient and climate-smart Philippines,” he said.

While the country’s recovery from Covid-19 pandemic is underway, Duterte also reminded everyone to keep in mind that “a healthy nation is anchored on a healthy and sound natural environment.”
