And we thought that blonde lawmakers could only be seen in parliaments of North American and European countries.
Bulacan Rep. Ma. Victoria Sy-Alvarado was seen intently preparing for her eventual sponsorship of her House Bill 5369 titled “An Act Declaring January 23 of each year as a Special Non-Working Holiday for the Whole Province of Bulacan” at the February 23 meeting of the Congressional Committee on Revision of Laws.
A lot of legislators, both men and women, usually dye their locks brown, black and even dark red. But Rep. Sy-Alvarado, wife of Bulacan governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado, quietly trumped everyone on Monday with her blonde locks.
Among other lawmakers in the said panel’s meeting were Cebu Rep. Gwendolyn Garcia and Albay Rep. Grex Lagman who had their own measures to sponsor.
While Rep. Sy-Alvarado was doing her sponsorship speech, it could not be determined if the person behind her had trouble with his nose or if there was something nasally remiss at the time.
The panel’s presiding officer for the meeting was Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Gerona-Robredo, who had to blink to see if the Bulacan lawmaker had yellow hair of if the afternoon sun was already getting to her.
Rep. Sy-Alvarado got her bill approved by the Committee. Another provincial holiday coming soon.
