Rewlated story: Breaking: Duterte shuts down lotto, STL, Peryahan, Keno due to massive corruption

Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) General Manager Royina Garma plans to appeal President Rodrigo Duterte’s order to stop all gaming activities sanctioned by the agency such as lotto, small town lottery (STL) and Peryahan ng Bayan.

In a statement Saturday (July 27), Garma said the PCSO is hoping Duterte will reconsider his decision.

“Pursuant to the order of the President, suspending PCSOs gaming activities, the PCSO Board directs compliance to said instruction until further notice. Rest assured that PCSO shall appeal to the Office of the President for the resumption of the conduct of all games to PCSO’s mandate and for the interest of the PCSO, its agents and its beneficiaries,” she said.

In a video message uploaded late Friday (July 26), Duterte announced the immediate closure of outlets of PCSO-sanctioned games due to “massive corruption.”

“I will not honor transactions that are clearly on the side of, you know, scheming people of the Republic of the Philippines of money. Puro dayaan lahat,” Duterte said.

While the PCSO outlets’ operations are suspended, Garma urged customers with advance play tickets to keep them until further notice.
