A total of 505 released heinous crimes convicts have surrendered, revealed Justice Undersecretary Markk Perete on Saturday (Sept. 14)
“As of today, a total of 505 have surrendered and in BuCor’s (Bureau of Corrections) custody,” he said.
The 505 surenderers are among the 1,914 convicts of who got released since 2013 due to their good conduct time allowance (GCTA).
In response to allegations that many of those released were undeserving, President Rodrigo Duterte last Sept. 4 gave the released convicts 15 days to surrender.
Duterte warned that those who ignored his call face arrest and, worse, killed if they resist.
