Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioners Jaime Morente has ordered the blacklisting and kicking out of 21 Chinese nationals.

“As a consequence of their being placed in our blacklist, these Chinese nationals are now barred from re-entering the Philippines for violating the conditions of their stay,” Morente said in a statements.

He said the 21 Chinese were granted entry into the Philippines through the government’s Visa Upon Arrival (VUA) program which is meant to attract Chinese tourists.

However, the 21 Chinese who arrived in various dates from December to January were found to have overstayed in the Philippines without valid justification and in violation of the terms and conditions of their stay.

Those granted VUAs are only allowed to stay in the country for 30 days without the need to obtain an entry visa from a Philippine consulate in his port of origin.

Last January 8, the Department of Justice (DOJ) issued a circular which prohibits VUA recipients from extending their stay beyond 30 days unless by reason of force majeure or medical emergency.
