The Supreme Court (SC), sitting as Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), on Tuesday (Oct. 1) decided to withhold from ruling on the results on the recount of ballots of the 2016 vice presidential polls in the three pilot provinces being contested by former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
“I would just like to inform you that the presidential electoral tribunal has deferred action on the report of Justice [Alfredo Benjamin] Caguioa,” said SC spokesman Brian Hosaka.
Caguioa who is handling the electoral complaint of Marcos against Vice President Leni Robredo has already submitted a report concerning the reuslts of the recount of pilot provinces Camarines Sur, Iloilo, and Negros Oriental.
The results will determine if the PET will proceed with a nationwide recount of ballots from the 2016 vice presidential polls where Marcos lost.
However, during the regular Tuesday full court session of the SC, the Caguioa report was deferred discussion by the magistrates.
