Pacquiao for President? He’s qualified, PDP stalwart says

A stalwart of the ruling party PDP Laban in the House of Representatives on Wednesday said Senator Manny Pacquiao is “well qualified” to run for higher position in 2022.
House Deputy Speaker Johnny Pimentel (Surigao del Sur) made the remarks in response to a recent statement from President Rodrigo Duterte urged the eight-division boxing champion turned politician to carefully mull over any plans to seek higher office less than three years from now.
“We all know also very well that Senator Pacquiao is capable for running in another or a higher position. He is well qualified naman,” said Pimentel in an ambush interview.
Pimentel stressed Pacquiao doing pretty well as a senator and he “can’t see any reason why he can’t aspire for a higher position.”
“Nakita naman po natin na maganda naman ang takbo sa posisyon niya bilang senador,” Pimentel stressed.
President Duterte, chairman of PDP Laban during the 42nd birthday of Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco last Monday in San Juan advised Pacquiao that getting tired is the only thing he will get in seeking higher office in the 2022 polls.
Pacquiao is among those reportedly planning to seek the presidency in the next scheduled elections.
Last August, Pacquiao was named head of the ruling party’s five-man senate contingent.
