An undersecretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government who had a hand in the ouster of former DILG Secretary Mike Sueno has been appointed to lead the Department of Agrarian Reform in an acting capacity.
President Rodrigo Duterte on December 1 signed the appointment paper of DILG Undersecretary John Castriciones as acting DAR chief.
He replaced former Agrarian Reform Secretary Rafael Mariano, who failed to hurdle the Commission on Appointments.
Since Mariano’s departure, DAR has been headed by an officer-in-charge, Rosalina Bistoyong.
Castriciones, together with DILG Undersecretaries Emily Parilla and Jesus Hinlo, wrote Duterte earlier this year to divulge the alleged corrupt activities of Sueno.
The President eventually sacked Sueno despite his denial of the allegations against him.
Before his appointment to DAR, Castriciones was reportedly on a floating status since March after Sueno stripped him of his responsibilities.
