Pagbigyan na: Judges’ group asks Duterte to appoint Marquez to SC
President Rodrigo Duterte has been asked by the Philippine Judges Association (PJA) to pick Court Administrator Midas Marquez as his next appointee to the Supreme Court (SC).
“We believe that Court Administrator Marquez possesses the necessary qualifications and expericne having been in the service in the Supreme Court for almost three decades in various positions,” read the recommendation letter of PJA President Felix Reyes addressed to President Rodrigo Duterte.
“We also stand and affirm of his integrity and competence and his appointment as the next Associate Justice of the Supreme Court would greatly benefit our beloved institution,” he added.
The SC has already recommended four names who could fill the vacancy at high tribunal once Associate Justice Presbitero Velasco Jr. retires this August 8.
Among the 12 candidates screened by the Judicial and Bar Council (JBC), the SC chose Marquez and Court of Appeals (CA) Associate Justices Rosmari Carandang,
