Palaban pa rin! De Lima says drug raps won’t break her spirit
Senator Leila de Lima continues to put on a brave face despite the filing of drug-related charges against her in three separate courts in Muntinlupa City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Friday (Feb. 17).
“I will fight this out for as long as I can. They can never break my spirit,” she told reporters in a text message.
De Lima’s office announced that they will issue a more formal statement later in the day.
The senator described the filing of charges against her as a “travesty of truth and justice” and “plain and simple political persecution.”
The Department of Justice’s filing of charges against De Lima before a regular court coincided with the Court of Appeals’ decision to junk her petition to stop the justice bureau from deciding on the criminal complaints against her in relation to her supposed involvement in the illegal drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).
