Malacañang is leaving it up to the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) to decide on whether to pull the animated film “Abominable” from theatres in the Philippines.

“Depende siguro yan sa MTRCB kung ano ang assessment nila,” said Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo Tuesday.

Vietnam earlier banned the new DreamWorks film Abominable from cinemas because of a scene featuring a map illustrating Beijing’s claims in the South China Sea.

The Southeast Asian country has territorial claims over the sea.

Asked if the use of China’s “nine-dash line” in the movie was “abominable,” Panelo said: “I will leave that to the Secretary of Foreign Affairs. I’ll defer to him.”
