Malacañang on Thursday dismissed as “haka-haka” the statement of Senator Richard Gordon that the government’s soft stance with China fueled issues surrounding the operations of online gaming in the country.

“Baka haka-haka niya lang,” said Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo in an interview over Radyo Singko.

“The President is never soft in anything that comes to national interests. He’s a very decisive President,” Panelo added in a separate interview.

Panelo also said it is not fair to blame Duterte’s closeness to China for the rise in crimes involving Chinese nationals such as kidnapping, prostitution and money laundering.

“No, they don’t know this President,” he added.

Senators earlier agreed to craft a measure declaring Philippine offshore gaming operations “illegal” due to the increase in criminal incidents related to the industry.
