Malacanang condemned on Thursday the explosion at a restaurant in Sultan Kudarat province, dubbing it as a “dastaradly act.”
At least 13 people were wounded after an improvised explosive devise went off in Isulan town Wednesday afternoon.
“The Palace deplores yesterday afternoon’s explosion in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat which wounded scores of individuals who are currently receiving medical treatment,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said.
In a statement, Panelo said an investigation is ongoing and the Philippine National Police is looking into extortion as the possible motive for the attack.
“While we commit to bring the perpetrators to justice, we also continue to advise the public to remain vigilant in their surroundings and not to be hesitant in reporting any unusual behavior that they may observe to proper authorities,” the chief presidential legal counsel added.
