Malacañang is hoping the House of Representatives can transmit the proposed P4.5-trillion national budget for 2021 to the Senate by October 28.
“Inaasahan naman po namin na mayroon pa naman pong mga pitong araw ‘no before 28 ay baka kayanin pa po iyan ng ating Kamara,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a radio interview aired over Radyo Pilipinas Wednesday.
The Senate earlier requested to receive the 2021 General Appropriations Bill by October 28 to avoid any further delays on its prompt passage.
“Sabi ng mga senador, kung hindi nila matanggap on or before the 28 ay baka magkaroon na naman po tayo ng pagkaantala sa pagpasa ng budget na baka pa rin maging dahilan na magkaroon tayo ng re-enacted budget,” Roque also said.
A reenacted budget is not an option for the government as it does not include allocations for the coronavirus disease pandemic that continues to disrupt economic activities in the country.
