Palace lauds Duterte’s approval, trust rating in latest poll

Malacañang on Friday welcomed the latest Pulse Asia survey that President Rodrigo Duterte earned the highest approval and trust ratings among elected government officials.

Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said the poll result was “a testament to how this administration is attuned to the needs of the greater majority.”

Duterte got an approval rating of 81 percent in a poll conducted between December 14 to 21, an increase by six perentage points in September 2018.

His trust rating of 76 percent, on one hand, was higher by four percentage points the last quarter.

“This government will continue to focus on the goal of giving a comfortable life for all rid of hard drugs, criminality and corruption,” Andanar said.

For Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, the Pulse Asia rating was a reflection that the Filipino people are satisfied with the Duterte rule.

“It appears that the tirades against (Duterte) have been ignored by a huge majority of Filipinos. (This) survey is therefore another repudiation of [his] critics and detractors… who don’t see or refuse to see the good in whatever the Chief Executive does and says,” added Panelo.
