The Duterte administration is listening to calls for a revolutionary government, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said.
“Listen to those who are shouting for RevGov; to listen to those who are shouting other ideas on how to run this government. At tayo’y nakikinig,” Andanar said in a radio interview on Saturday (December 2).
Andanar said he does not blame the backers of a revolutionary government under President Duterte, as he understands their frustrations at roadblocks posed by existing laws.
“Sila sumisigaw sila ng RevGov dahil they want to fast track everything. And you do not blame them and ako naman as part of this government, it is our job to listen to everyone,” he said.
He added that the protests calling for a revolutionary government held on Bonifacio Day shows that Philippine democracy is alive and vibrant.
“Binibigyan natin sila ng kanilang karapatan na to peaceably assemble outside and to express their voices and opinion. It’s part of our democracy,” Andanar said.
The current official position of the Palace is to reject calls for a revolutionary government, following Duterte’s backing down on his previous statements that he will declare a revolutionary government to halt forces aiming to topple the his administration.
