Palace mourns death of MILF’s Ghazali Jaafar

Malacanang on Wednesday mourned the passing of Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) member and Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Vice Chairman Ghazali Jaafar.
Jaafar, 75, passed away early morning today due to kidney failure.
“Our deep thoughts and sincere prayers to Mr. Ghazali Jaafar,” presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo said.
Panelo described the former chairman of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission as a “warrior of peace.”
“The Palace takes this opportunity to send our heartfelt condolences to the family members and friends of Mr. Jaafar. He has fought many battles for peace and may Allah grant him a place in Jannah (Paradise),” the official added.
For his part, Presidential Peace Adviser Carlito Galvez Jr. said recognized Jaafar’s ardent desire for the establishment of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.
“We will never forget that despite his health condition, Jaafar went the extra mile to join several campaign rallies to push for the realization of the Moro people’s aspiration for a genuine and meaningful autonomy,” Galvez said in a statement.
“Jaafar selflessly dedicated and devoted his life for others. Truly, he is a man of peace. May the Almighty and Merciful Allah bless his soul,” he added.
