Palace on De Lima’s remark that Duterte is heartless: ‘Wala lang siya magawa sa selda’

Malacañang just shrugged off Senator Leila de Lima’s short reaction to President Rodrigo Duterte’s “outburst” against the medical frontliners who earlier appealed for the reimposition of the stricter lockdown in Metro Manila due to increasing coronavirus (Covid-19) cases.
“Wala lang po sigurong magawa si Senator Leila de Lima sa kanyang selda,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque told reporters in a virtual presser Tuesday.
In a dispatch from Camp Crame where she’s detained, de Lima called the President “heartless” for criticizing the move of health workers to take their grievances against the government’s Covid-19 response public.
Instead of publicly airing their request for a “time out,” Duterte said last Sunday that the frontline workers could have asked for an audience or written him a letter about their concerns.
But, de Lima disagreed, saying that: “Nagalit si Duterte sa mga doktor na nagpahayag lang naman ng kanilang mga saloobin. Karapatan nila yan. Habaan na lang muna daw ang pasensya nila. At wala na daw ayuda sa mga mahihirap? Kanya kanya na lang? What a heartless leader.”
