Malacañang sees the latest survey on the performance of the Duterte administration as an indication that Filipinos could look beyond opposition politicking.
The Social Weather Stations, conducted on September 27 to 30, revealed that 67 percent are satisfied with the government. The rating was six points below the 73 percent last June.
“The rating, classified by the independent pollster as very good, demonstrates that a significant number of our countrymen possesses discernment that can stand and see beyond the endless politicking managed by the opposition, as well as the rhetorical aspersions peddled by the President’s detractors, critics and skeptics,” said Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo on Thursday.
Panelo added that the satisfaction rating of the Filipinos on subjects such as helping the poor; providing information needed by the citizens to properly examine what the government is doing; and having clear policies signified their “acknowledgement of the President’s genuine empathy, transparency and decisiveness.”
Despite high ratings, Duterte’s chief legal counsel said the President couldn’t care less about his survey ratings as his focus is to “accomplish the job entrusted to him by the electorate without expecting any reward for it.”
