Palace on Duterte approval for sale of Marcos jewels: Duterte is no respecter of friendship, alliances and relationship

Malacanang has allayed fears that the perceived closeness of the Dutertes and Marcoses will affect the President’s decision on the sale of Marcos jewellery collection, worth hundreds of millions of pesos.
This, after some quarters have expressed concern that Duterte’s friendly ties with the Marcos family could affect his position on their alleged ill-gotten wealth.
“As we have repeatedly assured the nation, the President is no respecter of friendship, political alliance and filial relationship. The President decides on any national matter on the basis of the constitutional command to him to serve and protect the people,” said Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo.
Panelo announced yesterday that the President has given his green light to auction off Rep. Imelda Marcos’ P700-million jewels.
In a statement on Friday, the chief presidential legal counsel assured the peoples’ interest and welfare are foremost in Duterte’s mind.
“Let it reverberate in every asphalt jungle and wilds of the archipelago, that the President, without fear nor favour, will continue to govern the nation, with an iron political will, laced with compassion and devotion, to effect the desired changes that will uplift the lives of the masses of our people under a regime of peace and order,” he said.
“No force on earth can derail this President from pursuing his avowed goal of transforming our country into a new mould and scaling the heights never been reached.”
