Malacañang is in favor of a proposal to build an elevated expressway along EDSA to lessen traffic.
The proposed “elevated EDSA” of San Miguel Corporation (SMC) will connect Macapagal Avenue in Pasay City and Balintawak in Quezon City, and will feature dedicated lanes for a bus rapid transit system.
“Have you read about Ramon Ang’s (president and chief operating officer of SMC) proposal? Yung elevated. I was talking to him last night, ang ganda ng proposal niya. Tuloy yun. Tinanong ko siya how much is that? ‘US$3 billion’, sabi niya. In less than two years gawa yan,” said Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo.
Panelo said the elevated expressway will solve the worsening traffic situation in Metro Manila.
“I know it’s a proposal but it’s a beautiful proposal. I understand (Ang) was talking with (Transportation) Secretary (Arthur) Tugade and Secretary Tugade is welcoming such an idea,” the chief presidential legal counsel noted.
