Malacanang said it welcomes the Supreme Court’s decision to release all police reports on “Oplan Tokhang” to the petitioners in a case questioning the legality of the Duterte administration’s anti-drugs campaign.
On Tuesday, the high court ordered the Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) to provide the petitioners copies of the Philippine National Police’s Oplan Tokhang reports.
“We always follow the rule of law. The Supreme Court has spoken,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in a statement last Tuesday.
“Unless it reverses itself upon a motion for reconsideration by the Solicitor General, obedience to its ruling should come as a matter of course,” added Panelo.
Citing issues of national security, the OSG earlier refused to submit all drug-war related documents to SC.
“The Court ordered the Solicitor General to submit the police reports to the Supreme Court, copy furnishing the petitioners,” SC spokesperson Brian Hosaka said yesterday.
