The travel ban on Taiwan will stay until the World Health Organization (WHO) decides to lift off the ban, Malacañang said.
On Tuesday, the Taiwanese government urged the Philippines to lift a travel ban on its citizens over coronavirus fears.
“Taiwan is part of China and since there’s a ban of China, necessarily Taiwan being part of China is included,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in a media briefing.
According to Panelo, the travel ban on China and its territories was upon the recommendation of the WHO.
“We always follow the recommendation of the World Health Organization so if the World Health Organization says there is a need for the lifting of the ban in any part of those already announced to have travel ban then we will I suppose do so,” he added.
