Malacañang asked Senator Richard Gordon for information concerning Chinese nationals in the Philippines who are engaged in a money-laundering scheme.
Gordon earlier said between December 2019 and February 2020, Chinese citizens brought in excessive money without being flagged.
He also alleged that the foreigners possibly had “money connections” in government, noting that no concerned government agencies reported the unlawful activity.
“If the good senator has information on that I think they should provide us with intelligence reports so that we can pursue their line of belief on that matter,” said Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo in a media briefing Monday.
“They should help the government provide information so that we can properly address the matter,” added Panelo.
When asked if the Palace will investigate the matter, the Palace official said: “Most likely it will. But if there is already a Senate investigation, ordinarily the President waits for that.”
