Malacañang reiterated that President Rodrigo Duterte will no longer meddle in the House speakership row between House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano and Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco.
In a statement aired on state-run PTV-4 Sunday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Duterte urged lawmakers to set aside politics and swiftly pass the proposed 2021 budget.
Last Friday, Duterte issued Proclamation 1027, called Congress to a “special session” from October 13 to 16 to resume plenary deliberations on the proposed P4.5-trillion national budget. He also certified the budget measure as urgent.
