Malacañang downplayed Tuesday the challenge of Senator Francis Pangilinan on President Rodrigo Duterte to certify a bill against political dynasty as urgent.
“Parang mali yung paghamon niya kasi ang pagpapasa ng batas ay isang katungkulan ng lehislatibo,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in his virtual presser.
“So, kinakailangan siguro na hamunin niya ang kasama niya sa Senado at sa Kamara na ipasa ang batas na yan,” according to Roque.
Last Sunday, Pangilinan said that certifying the anti-political dynasty bill as urgent was a “tangible proof” of Duterte’s desire to dismantle dynastic rule in the Philippines.
Duterte had boasted of dismantling oligarchy just days after a committee at the House of Representatives refused to renew the franchise application of ABS-CBN resulting in the shutdown of the broadcast network.
