Palace to PCGG: Start auction of Marcos jewelry
By Prince Golez
Malacanang has asked the Presidential Commission on Good Government to heed President Rodrigo Duterte’s directive to auction off the jewels seized from the former first lady and now Ilocos Norte Rep. Imelda Marcos.
This, after Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea said the Office of the President has interposed no objections to the proposed public auction of Marcos’ jewelry collections.
“The PCGG should now undertake the process of auctioning off the Marcos jewelry,” said Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo in a media briefing on Tuesday.
Panelo reiterated that the proceeds of the public auction should benefit the Filipino people.
“It applies to everything that will benefit the people by way of whatever projects,” the official added.
