Former senator Antonio Trillanes IV challenged President Rodrigo Duterte Friday (June 19) to appoint Vice President Leni Robredo as chairperson of the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases that deals with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Trillanes issued the dare after Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Robredo should present solutions rather than criticize the government’s effort to contain the pandemic.
“If Malacanang really wants to flatten the curve, then it should appoint Vice President Robredo to be the IATF chair,” Trillanes said.
Trillanes asked if Roque were blind or ignorant of Robredo’s efforts to help out in the crisis, saying the Vice President has been hard at work since the pandemic broke out.
